WIW: summer monochrome

Angie brought a heatwave with her when she arrived here in Amsterdam, and now the city's basking in some glorious sunshine. And by amazing coincidence, today's blog post features yesterday's outfit plus a splash of animal print, which sadly doesn't exist in my wardrobe. Maybe I'll fix that one of these days.

Thursday was a teaching day, and I want them to listen to me rather than check out my clothes, so I kept it simple with a tuxedo shirt from Uniqlo +J, shiny crash pants By Brown and white Birkenstock sliders.

Today it's far too hot for anything so formal, so I'm in boxer shorts from BACK, vintage kimono and a Panama hat I bought in Barcelona. And my only spoil from Monday's grand day out (still can't believe I went shopping with Angie!) a very cute magnetic necklace from COS.

I wore this with loose fitting skinny pants for a meeting earlier today and I think I prefer the look like that, but it's definitely the weather to show my pasty white legs some sunshine. Now off to sit on a terrace with an ice cold beer!

Fabulous, both of them! The tux shirt and high waisted pants is such a great pairing and you look so cool (in more ways than one :)) in the shorts and kimono top.

Great looks!  I love those grey pants in #1.  #2 is great hot weather outfit.  The necklace is really interesting and goes well with the plain white shirt. My husband has a Panama hat that my parents brought back from a trip to Panama, that I've been meaning to wear this summer.  You're inspiring me to put my plan into action.

Love both looks. The tuxedo shirt works beautifully with those shiny pants.
But "vintage kimono", those words really press my buttons. Love it.

Really love the shirt, and daring pairing with shiny pants. Which look very comfortable to wear.

All great looks.  Love the necklace.  I am totally envious that you got to go shopping with Angie and Inge.  And are you also going to London?  Now I am green.

Arg! Took a while to get back to this thread. Friday afternoon in the sunshine will do that to you ;) Sorry about that.

Thanks for all your kind comments. I'm still on the fence about the shorts. They're super comfortable in the heat, but I'm wondering of they are even JFE.

Style Fan: yes I'm going to London to join in next week. Wouldn't miss that for the world. Very much looking forward to meeting everyone in person!

Sara L: pro tip for wearing a Panama hat: make sure it fits properly or it will fly off in the breeze... If your DH's hat is a little loose, maybe you could try wearing a scarf underneath.

And donnat... yes to vintage kimono! I hunted high and low for years to find that special one for me, but I have a friend who's addicted and can't stop buying them. I can easily see how that would happen. It's very wearable, more so than you might think.
